Adjusting Velocity Sensitivity in MainStage (Apex Gospel Keys)

To customize how your keyboard responds while using Apex Gospel Keys, follow these steps:

  1. In MainStage, click “Layout” in the top-left corner.

  2. Click on the on-screen 88-key MIDI keyboard (located toward the bottom left).

  3. On the left side, locate the Hardware Input section.

  4. Under the Channel settings, you’ll see Velocity Sensitivity.

Understanding Velocity Sensitivity

  • Less
Makes the keyboard less sensitive. You’ll have to play harder to get higher velocities.

  • Neutral
A balanced response. This is a good starting point for most players.

  • More
Makes the keyboard more sensitive and responsive. Softer playing will produce louder or more dynamic results.

Tips for Best Results

  • Start with Neutral.

  • Gradually adjust toward Less or More depending on your playing style.

  • Your ideal setting will depend on:

    • The keyboard you’re using

    • Your personal touch and dynamics

Take a few minutes to play and adjust until it feels natural and responds the way you want.
